Seven Oaks Yoga

Yoga Philosophy: Mirroring – how we can see ourselves through others.

We see others as we see ourselves. In some people we see the best and the qualities that we want to have. Sometimes we even exaggerate those qualities. Sometimes we see in others what we do not like about ourselves or we assume those qualities in them. Yoga teaches us to go past the assumptions. And to see everyone in the purest light of compassion and no judgment. It all starts with us. If we love ourselves and we see ourselves in the purest light we see others with the same light. As we practice yoga we develop self reflection through Tapas and Svadhyaya where other people become a mirror in which we can learn to see ourselves more deeply. As we talk of others, we reflect on ourselves if those are the qualities we are struggling with or simply who we are. We learn to reflect and see the difference between facts and actions of others or assumptions. Every message you write, express, or post is a reflection of who you are and how you treat yourself. If you doubt yourself you would doubt others; if you lie to yourself you lie to others. If you treat yourself with love and kindness you treat others the same. Know yourself and treat yourself with love, respect, and compassion. Reflect on the words of others when they talk about someone else. Do their statements have facts? Reflect if that person’s past actions were kind? Or, is it their projection of themselves of that person? Pause and reflect #childpose Always stay kind. #yogaphilosophy #yogalife
